How to Create A Furniture Budget

If you're like me, it's easy to have Jan's mindset from The Office. After she's asked how much the sofa was she simply says, "It costs what it costs."

While I can have this attitude, I also know the value of creating a budget and sticking to it. When asking my client's the inevitable... "What's your budget?"

I kept getting responses like, "Oh I don't have one" or "I have no idea."

Quickly it became clear that coming up with a figure was being altogether avoided due to not knowing where to start.

This easy-to-use tool I built, creates a rough estimate of the items needed for a complete design with a slider that shows a low, medium and high option spend for each item.

My budget tool even gives a rough estimate of shipping and tax because unlike Jan's theory it's better to err on the side of caution - worst case scenario you come in under budget while still achieving a final look!

It allows my client to relay what design items are more or less important to them. For example, they may want to be more frugal on throw pillows but splurge a bit on wall art.
